Major Duties

DUTIES:  The incumbent of this position provides LPN coverage to the urgent care area for patient flow, clerical support, phone coverage, and support duties to inpatient staff and Patient Care Services office.  QUALIFICATIONS:  Citizen of the United States.  Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate state accrediting agency and/or the National League for Nursing at the time the program was completed by the applicant.  Health care education in the military service or training in the military service which is accepted by the licensing body in the jurisdiction in which the individual is licensed as qualifying for full LPN/LVN licensures will be accepted as meeting the education requirements for employment.  Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a graduate licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the United States or District of Columbia.  Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

QUALIFICATION FACTORS:





Ability to work effectively with patients, families, or significant others, with professional and support personnel who provide patient care, and with members of other services.

Ability to be self-directed in providing effective care to groups of patients:



Initiates effective action in emergencies.

Provides pertinent patient education based on assessed needs

Effectively and efficiently utilizes all computer programs needed for work including those needed for patient care and staff education (ie: experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).

Experience working with minimal supervision (ie: Demonstrates self-motivation to see what needs to be done and to do it without being told to so within LPN scope of practice).

Knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patient’s conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information (ie: experience as an LPN performing these duties). 

Note:  The qualification factors are the criteria that will be used to identify well-qualified applicants.  Consequently, applicants who fail to complete them may not receive full credit for their experience.
