Job Listing: Research Assistant II

The Research Assistant II (Food Science) position is an integral part of the lab support team. RA II will be responsible for operating, calibrating, and performing preventive maintenance on a set of laboratory-scale analytical equipment, in support of research projects. When needed, the Associate will interact directly with equipment vendors to keep the instruments up-to-date, as well as internal scientists to discuss protocols and carry out experiments in support of research projects.

Principal Accountabilities:

This position will be responsible for development of a wide range of food systems for the delivery of active compounds and for applying methods for quantitative analysis of such compounds in a variety of food matrices.

Knowledge and Skills:

Candidates should have a solid foundation in food physico-chemistry, particularly on the chemical composition, structure, and properties of food materials as well as on the physicochemical processes they undergo during common processing operations. Working knowledge of human nutrition and ingredient nutrition is a plus.

Equally important are skills in the areas of rheology, DSC, light scattering, HPLC and electrophoresis.

Education and Experience:

BS or MS in Food science or Chemistry. 2-3 years of experience
