Job Listing: Environmental Manager

General Summary:
Implement the environmental programs and activities of the company to ensure that an effective program is maintained and that appropriate measures are taken to comply with corporate, Georgia Department of Environmental Conservation, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and related environmental policies and directives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the organizational implementation of an environmental management system to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental laws, regulations, and standards. Remain knowledgeable of current industry practice and best available control technologies (benchmarks).
- Determine and specify appropriate environmental permits, applications, reporting requirements and work practices to be employed on specific jobs based on environmental and corporate standards, and implement accordingly through plant management.
- Initiate and ensure investigation of all chemical spills and environmental releases or potential for release, compiling statistical data and providing remedial actions to achieve effective pollution prevention.
- Engage the organization in pollution prevention and recycling, chair regular environmental committee meetings and ensure that coordinated training and motivational campaigns are conducted in association with company policies and governmental regulations.
- Keep abreast of all EPA and corporate environmental regulations and standards applicable to the plant. Communicates with and/or trains team members to the extent appropriate to achieve understanding and compliance. Develops and prepares plant environmental procedures and rules, ensure their communication to those affected and audits for compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS and JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or a related area is required
- Five (5) – seven (7) years of progressive experience in the area of environmental engineering, of which one-half must be in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry.
- Emphasis is placed on industrial environmental engineering experience.


SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Registered Environmental Manager (REM) is preferred
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Professional Engineer – Civil is preferred
