OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Direct application development, maintenance and upgrade of Oracle Applications Suite, its supporting systems and other corporate applications to ensure usability and integrity of HR, payroll, General Ledger and other corporate processes within the organization. Manage day-to-day operations and work closely with peer decision-makers and management to foster innovation, provide technical expertise and recommend cost-effective technology solutions for the respective organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Through leadership and directions, ensure appropriate design and development of new and modified functionality, reports, forms, and interface systems in support of HR, Payroll, General Ledger and other corporate departments. Effectively plan and oversee Oracle improvement/development projects to ensure successful fulfillment of end-user requirements, proper, accurate testing and sound implementation. Oversee activity of staff to ensure that production problems are resolved quickly, ensuring continued accurate system operations.
In concert with management of Human Resources, Payroll, General Ledger, other corporate departments and the HR/Financial Systems Steering Committee, establish priorities, work sequence and allocation of resources for application development and maintenance requests. Assign work accordingly to staff.
Oversee activity of staff and provide applicable technical expertise to ensure production problems are resolved quickly, resulting in continued accurate system operations. Provide project management and/or technical expertise to ensure that packaged systems are kept current through applications of the appropriate patches or releases, to ensure existing systems’ functionality remain synchronized with changing business and user requirements. Oversee activity of staff to ensure maintenance/change requests are completed successfully to users’ satisfaction on a timely basis and appropriate controls/compliance are maintained.
Conduct and coordinate personnel-related activities such as identification of resources needs, evaluation and selection, and retention of staff (including mentoring, development and discipline). Provide technical and troubleshooting leadership for developers and staff.
Conduct managerial-related administrative duties including preparation of status reports, annual and quarterly performance reviews, annual budgets preparation, department meeting presentations, vacation scheduling, and other tasks as requested.
Provide technical insight and guidance to user community to ensure sound business decision development.
In concert with other IS staff, coordinate application technology upgrades, server upgrades and replacements, security changes, and other cross-system requirements. Participate in or coordinate third party software evaluations with customers and provide applicable recommendations. Conduct or direct research into IT issues or products as required.
Required Qualifications: (Include education, experience, physical requirements, special skills and licenses or certifications required.)
- Bachelor’s degree in math, CS, engineering, business or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Information Systems
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in application development and technical support within an ERP such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc., in a Unix environment
- 3 years’ experience technically supporting the specific functional areas of HR and Payroll
- 2 years supervisory experience; ability to build and develop a team
- 3 years’ project management experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer-service oriented
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of direct development and support experience in Oracle Applications (11.0, 11i)
- 5 years’ management experience
- 5 years’ project management experience
- 2 years supporting functional area of General Ledger
- Knowledge of other programming languages (C, C++, Java)
- Master’s degree in math, CS, engineering or business.
