About the Position: Works with Directors to coordinate appropriate time to conduct staff/provider/volunteer training. Observes in appropriate program settings throughout all hours of operation to assess and evaluate staff competency and provide feedback. Spends 60 - 75% of time in programs/homes training, observing, evaluating and modeling Enables staff/providers/volunteers to maintain their Individual Development Plans (IDP) and ensures training has been properly documented. Develops training program budget and provides to CYS Coordinator for input into CYS budget to include Foundation and Annual/On-going Training costs, resource and professional supplies, equipment and materials, credentialing fees, training related TDY costs, conference registration fees, and college course tuition.

Major Duties

Serves as the CYS trainer and professional child/youth development education consultant for CDS, SAS, CLEOS, and/or YS program(s) with responsibility for ensuring the quality and consistency of programming to include: environment, equipment, materials, program structure, special needs inclusion, curriculum, risk management practices to minimize risk of abuse; supportive interactions and positive social development and oversight and coordination of activity/program schedules. Designs, administers and conducts the Foundation, Annual/On-Going training. requirements based on course outlines. Conducts training both on-the-job and in classroom settings based on developed training plan. Evaluates staff/provider competence and conducts and documents quarterly training reviews with all direct staff and FCC Providers to discuss progress.

Qualifications

Highly preferrable: bachelor degree that included or was supplemented by major study (24 sem hrs) in child development or early childhood education, youth development, elementary education, secondary education or other appropriate fields; Or combination of experience and education (24 sem hrs) in related area. IN ADDITION, candidate MUST possess: 1. Minimum of (12) months experience working in child and youth programs. 2. Minimum of (1) yr of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level. 3. Experience in planning and conducting training for CHILD AND YOUTH STAFF. Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field as indicated above, and two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a directly related field is fully qualifying for the position.
