Our Client, an Aviation Company considered by many to be "The World Standard in Business Aviation", has an immediate need for a Manufacturing Engineer who is experienced in implementing Lean Manufacturing Concepts.
Job Summary:
Position Purpose(s):
Work/lead independently to prepare, conduct, and evaluate analyses for planning improvements and problem-solving related to manufacturing issues (i.e. production methods and procedures) in a specific function, including:
Layout
Production Flow
Tooling and Production Equipment
Material Fabrication
Assembly Methods and Planning
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Perform technical studies of a complex nature, and conduct analysis of operations (existing or proposed).
Prepare a report of recommendations for equipment needed and correct methods of manufacturing (including sequence of operations and detailed methodology of complex assemblies and installations as well as detail components).
Generates make-or-buy proposals and recommends corrective actions for areas of responsibility.
Evaluate vendors.
Attend vendor negotiations.
Assist in resolving vendor problems.
Conduct research, investigation, and analysis in connection with assigned planning or other assigned projects, to ensure conformance to requirements.
Investigate and assist in preparing justification for equipment and facility requests.
Perform producibility studies from Engineering drawings.
Utilize CADAM/CATIA data and nesting software to generate flat patterns, NC data, and ply nests to meet Engineering and Manufacturing requirements.
Apply statistical methods to estimate future Manufacturing requirements and potential; make necessary computer inputs and generate data or reports as needed.
Assume the duties of the ME Group Head in his/her absence; advise and assist subordinates.
Assign and review work of subordinate personnel.
Prioritize workloads based on schedules and needs; provide completion dates and work estimates based on available resources, past performance schedules, etc.
Keep current on state-of-the-art Manufacturing developments.
Supervise and train subordinates in work methods and procedures, as well as in the efficient and effective use of Company resources to resolve work-related and/or quality problems.
Incorporate Lean Manufacturing Methodology into existing and future processes.
Independently lead/coordinate the implementation of projects between multiple organizations.
Complete knowledge and understanding of Lean processes.
Develop business case and present to Management for Process Improvement approval.
Employ sound Project Management skills to deliver projects in a timely and complete manner.
Additional Functions:
Ensure that Quality Policies are being practiced; make recommendations and implement procedures to improve quality.
Initiate and maintain accurate daily/weekly activity status, based on work output, as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
Required Skills for this Manufacturing Engineer III position include the following:
Ability to operate computerized equipment, such as personal computers, CADAM, CATIA, etc.
Complete understanding and proven experience implementing Lean Manufacturing Concepts, such as:
5S
JIT
SMED
KanBan
VSM
One Piece Flow
Working knowledge of Six-Sigma or other data-driven, decision-making experience highly desirable; Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt, equivalent certification, and/or proven experience in a Lean Six-Sigma environment highly desirable
Must have proven outstanding expertise in the specific discipline and proven track record in support of policies and rules, and in consistently meeting objectives
Must possess initiative, planning ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities
Experience/Education Required
Six (6) years of Manufacturing Engineer Planning (or related technical) experience; includes 4 years as a Manufacturing Engineer II
Must be knowledgeable of the following (See Other Requirements in Job Description):
Engineering Configuration Requirements
Tooling
Quality Control
Plant Safety
Blueprint Reading
Shop Math
Bachelor degree in Industrial, Mechanical, and/or Manufacturing Engineering, a related curriculum, and/or equivalent experience
