Possess the ability to assess and diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and process control equipment or systems with specialized diagnostic test equipment.
With the use of special skills and techniques supervise or perform maintenance on installed mechanical, electrical or instrumentation and process control (SCADA) equipment or systems. Assess and diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and process control (SCADA) equipment or systems.
Plan, manage and execute asset condition assessment programs on electrical (low and high voltage) and mechanical equipment or systems. Programs include thermography, vibration analysis, oil analysis, sonic analysis, power quality analysis, motor winding analysis, etc.
May direct, coordinate, or supervise local maintenance personnel or contractors on installation projects involving electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and process control (SCADA) equipment or systems.
Assist in construction projects. Participate in engineering design, review, witness factory acceptance tests, construction inspection, and commissioning/start-up of projects that include electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and process control (SCADA) equipment or systems.
Recommend changes in mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems as required. Investigate new equipment products or maintenance techniques. This may include setting up pilot testing.
Create and/or maintain records, drawings, and reports within area of responsibilities. Read and interpret specifications, drawings, and records for electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation (SCADA) equipment or systems.
Advise, instruct, and/or assist operating company personnel on proper operation and maintenance of equipment or systems. Provide technical instruction as required. Assist in the development of technical training materials.
Advise, instruct and assist operating company personnel on proper meter sizing, testing, and repair procedures. Review large customer meters as to proper sizing, type and kind, field tests, and repair meters.
Assist in planning of company budgets by making recommendations to operations.
5-10 years experience in electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation maintenance management.
Minimum two year technical degree or 4 year apprenticeship. Certification in one or more of the following technologies: Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasonics, Motor Winding Analysis or High Voltage Maintenance is strongly preferred. The expectation is that additional certifications are continually sought to round out education and experience.
