Major Duties

This position is located at the Kauai Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Lihue, HI. The purpose of this position is to be responsible for independently planning, implementing, and case managing the treatment of veterans with substance abuse disorders. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: conducts intake and needs assessment and develops treatment goals of substance abuse veterans who are diagnosed with both medical and psychiatric problems; reviews progress and treatment plans and goals; performs case management by providing follow-up evaluations to determine if all appropriate services were provided; provides services and referrals for services; provides counseling regarding benefits and referrals to appropriate federal, state and local agencies; provides consultation and training to community service agencies on substance abuse problems; develops working relationships and cross referrals with community agencies; conducts individual and group therapy and counseling for veterans presenting psychological and social problems as well as substance abuse; and provides instructions in the assessment and counseling of veterans.
