Job Description:
The information architect is a member of the enterprise architecture group, and is under the general direction of the Director of Enterprise Architecture. The main focus of the information architecture will be the definition and maintenance of the enterprise view of information and data. The data architect will analyze enterprise data and information requirements and maintain the models to support those requirements. The information architect will need to work closely with other enterprise architects, business analysts, data modelers, database administrators, etc… to coordinate the canonical model. This list of duties is not exhaustive, and may be added, deleted or changed at any time, without notice.
1. Define enterprise data structures, including canonical models for media assets and financial business objects.
2. Supporting development/engineering by defining messaging schemas for cross-domain interoperability.
3. Create business object definitions, for any objects that cross IT domains.
4. Consult with data modelers (engineering) on the logical designs of an operation data store.
5. Consult with DBA’s on the physical design of an operation data store.
6. Set standards and policies for the design and implementation of data structures and data stores.
7. Consult with data modeler on the design of a data warehouses, and data cubes.
8. Lead effort to define the master data management strategy for media assets and their metadata.
9. Help define data quality, data stewardship, and enterprise data services.
10. Perform other duties as needed and as directed by supervisor.
Requirements:
1. Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology oriented major is a must; an MBA is preferred.
2. Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as an Information Architect, and at least 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Must be able to demonstrate a solid background in database design, master data management, data flow definition, data modeling, canonical modeling, and have a solid understanding of service oriented architecture/design, agile modeling, domain driven design, data warehousing, and object to relation modeling. Experience with managed file transfer is a definite plus.
3. Technology: Must have experience with data architecture case tools, and multiple data stores including: Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL*Server, and LDAP directories. Must have experience with a tool for developing canonical message schemas in XML. Must understand SQL and XML data structures. Experience with EDI, RSS, and other forms of data transfer structures is a plus.
4. Skills/Abilities: Must have a solid understanding of the basic EA concepts, and EA theory. Candidate needs the ability to lead research and canonical modeling projects, and the ability to plan and accomplish goals within a team environment. Candidate must be able to influence others and be able to demonstrate pier leadership skills. Candidate must be self motivated. Candidate must possess excellent written, verbal, and presentational communication skills.
