EXAMPLES OF DUTIES PERFORMED
This list of duties is not exhaustive, and duties may be added, deleted or changed at any time.
1. Install, configure and upgrade Oracle installations and software applications.
2. Perform expert level database administration functions such as tuning, software upgrades, and resource management. Troubleshoot and correct database and application problems.
3. Coordinate with users to determine requirements.
4. Ensure that database improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
5. Support internal Knoxville and external customers.
6. This position does require being in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support.
7. Perform other duties as needed, and as directed by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience required.
2. Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in a database environment is required. Experience with Oracle version 8.x, 9.x and 10.x on Solaris/Red Hat Linux required, and any MySQL or PostgreSQL is a plus. RAC experience is preferred. A strong Oracle development background and Unix administration level background will be considered in lieu of DBA experience. Perl, and Java are preferred. Experience in a technical support environment supporting remote users preferred. Ability to multi-task necessary.
3. Equipment: Solaris required. Linux is a plus.
4. Skills/Abilities: Understanding of Web development. Ability to work with public and with other office personnel in person and by telephone in often stressful situations. Occasional overtime may be required.
