Job Listing: Network Administrator

TEKsystems is seeking a Network Administrator for our client in Louisville, Kentucky. This is a contract position with an expected duration of six months. Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience.

Summary: This person will be supporting all the IT Infrastructure and will be responsible for design, installation and maintenance of all client networking systems. Candidates must have experience supporting Microsoft Windows Servers, particularly 2003 file servers (there are five of them) and must have experience with Symbol Wireless Gun (RF based hand scanner). Candidate will be supporting 150 warehouse users. 70% of the role will consist of break/fix and user support while the remaining 30% will be systems engineering.

Position Description:
Responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining globally distributed networking equipment and devices attached to the network. This includes all network equipment such as: routers, switches, hubs, wireless access points, firewalls, and VPN devices. This also includes attached equipment such as: servers, workstations, mobile devices, scanners, printers, PIMS, and cameras.

Responsible for creation and maintenance of documentation and procedures regarding client's IT environment, including inventories, asset allocation, standard build procedures, and end user setup directions, etc.

Responsible for bringing innovative thinking and sound troubleshooting skills to solve complex problems.

Responsible for interacting with customers, vendors, and other employees with a high level of professionalism.

Responsible for staying current on new and upcoming technologies, and bringing those thoughts and ideas into the IT department for improving client's business through integration.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for any temporary workers as assigned on a project by project basis.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must be proficient with the following technologies and concepts.
- Layer 3 Networking with TCP/IP, including Routing, Routing Protocols, Subnetting
- Layer 2 Networking including use of VLANS, STP, and VTP
- Network Mediums including FastEthernet, 1000F-SX, GigEthernet, 802.11a/b/g
- Network Security Protocols such as WEP, EAP, LEAP
- Operating Systems including Windows Server 2000/2003, Windows XP/2000
- Basic VOIP understanding including H323, SIP, RTSP
- Basic Firewalling Concepts such as NAT, ACLs
- Security Technologies such as Intrusion Prevention, Intrusion Detection, Application Intelligence

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) Preferred
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Preferred
