Our client a financial organization in Boston MA is in need of a Storage Administrator/Engineer to join their Storage Operations team.
The primary role of this team is to monitor and maintain all storage environments, implement certified storage technologies in the environments, architect solutions within the storage environments, and provision the necessary technologies to implement those solutions.
On a day to day basis, this individual will be assisting with the planning, coordinating and tracking of the changes throughout all aspects of storage environments. Report on storage performance when necessary. Research improved firmware and software versions for existing hardware and software in the environments. Maintain and follow the integrated risk management program throughout the storage infrastructure. Make recommendations for risk avoidance, mitigation, and/or acceptance. Working with appropriate members of the storage team to assign storage, based on our clients' recommendations and best practices. Assist with researching best practices for all aspects of the storage environment. Troubleshoot and investigate root-cause when incidents and issues occur. Perform periodic audits of storage inventory and documentation throughout all aspect of storage environment. Interact with internal IT groups as well as vendors from other companies and customers in and outside of the company.
To be qualified for this role, individuals must possess the following:
-BS Computer Science degree or similar.
-5 - 10 years experience on SAN hardware and software from vendors such as EMC, HDS or similar.
-2+ years of production storage administration or consulting experience.
-Experience designing, implementing and supporting storage, replication, and data protection solutions for Oracle, Sybase, and MS-SQL desirable.
-Strong problem determination and debugging skills.
-Proficiency with MS-Excel, Visio, and Project desirable.
