ARMY TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT


NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.  This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Utah National Guard.  Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.  Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.  Applicants who are not currently a member of the Utah National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment with the Utah National Guard.

Major Duties


This position is located in an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) or Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA) with responsibility for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, systems, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing.  Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include phase inspection, daily inspections, pre and post flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, and inspection of onboard emergency equipment.  Conducts checks on hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power systems, etc.  Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft.  Performs the full range of repair and testing of aircraft systems, assemblies, and surfaces.  Using a variety of methods involving test equipment, visual checks, and instruments, diagnoses and identifies problem areas and determines the extent of repairs required. Removes components and assemblies, repairs or replaces defective parts and components and reassembles repaired items into the aircraft.  Installs, aligns, and makes needed adjustments to major components and assemblies such as engines, propeller/rotors, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc., assisting Specialists as required.  Accomplishes adjustments to related systems which may be affected by repairs.  Conducts ground functional tests of all aircraft systems.  Services aircraft with oil, deicing fluid, fuel, and hydraulic fluid.  Launches and recovers assigned and transient aircraft; performs inspections prior to takeoff.  Inspects for conditions such as oil, fuel, and hydraulic leaks, cut lines, tires and loose panels.  May be required to perform such additional duties as fire fighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: For successful performance in this position, each applicant must fully justify on their application how they meet each KSA listed.




1.  Knowledge of troubleshooting, repairing, maintenance, servicing, inspecting, and modifying aircraft, aircraft installed equipment, and related ground support equipment.




2.  Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical principals as applied to aircraft, aircraft maintenance management; maintenance data reporting, and use of diagrams and technical publications.




WG-10 requires 18 months of specialized experience.




WG-08 requires 12 months of specialized experience.




WG-05 requires 6 months of specialized experience.




 


Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.




Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire. 




Permanent Change of Station (PCS) is not authorized.




Soldiers who accept a technician position will be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).




Indefinite positions may be converted to permanent status without further competition.
