Job Summary
The Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania's (UPenn) School of Medicine seek candidates for an Associate and/or Full Professor position in the Academic Clinician track.
Responsibilities include oversight of the Anatomic Pathology Division at the PVAMC and participation in general or sub-specialty-oriented surgical pathology sign-out at the PVAMC and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). Experience in Cytopathology is preferred. The individual selected for the position will also be expected to participate in collaborative ventures at the UPenn and PVAMC. Teaching and mentoring of medical students, biomedical graduate students, pathology residents, and fellows, and technologists will be an integral component of the position.

Qualifications
Rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have expertise in Anatomic Pathology, and preferably cytopathology, demonstrate excellent qualifications in clinical care, research, and education; and potential for clinical administration and leadership. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D/Ph.D. or equivalent degree. American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic Pathology and eligibility for an unrestricted PA medical license are required.
A sub-speciality focus is required. Areas of focus may include (but are not exclusive of other interests in) Breast, Cardiac, Genitourinary, Gynecologic, Head and Neck, and Pulmonary Pathology. A strong record of publications, excellence in education of pathology trainees and medical students, and expertise with modern diagnostic techniques are required. The candidate must demonstrate strong interest in research. The environment for collaborative research on the contiguous campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia VA Medical Center is outstanding.
