Job Listing: Manager, Next Layer Market and Retrocession

Responsible for managing the personnel, transaction work flow and processes of the Next Layer Market segment within the Administration area to ensure timely, accurate and cost effective service deliverables. Oversee Retro billing activities.
Manage, coach, mentor direct reports:
Supervise employees and their performance by reviewing and monitor attendance and productivity records for adherence to standards.
Take prompt and appropriate steps regarding hiring, terminations and disciplinary issues of staff.
Ensure performance management process is completed according to schedule for all direct reports.
Coach and mentor direct reports to meet agreed upon objectives by providing consistent feedback on the productivity and quality of their work.
Ensure employee work performance reports measuring productivity and quality are maintained.

Oversee tasks related to the management of the Next Layer department:
Establish work priorities of employees, distribute work and follow through such as:
Processing new business,
Conducting premium reconciliation and
Processing in force transactions to ensure time service standards are met.
Participate with Management in establishing objectives, standards, quotas and quality controls.
Proactively pursue initiatives to reduce operational costs, enhance productivity and improve quality.
Work with internal and external clients to resolve escalated issues.
Assist in the development of procedures to report key productivity and quality measures.

Maintain a high level of risk management for Next Layer administrative functions:
Ensure proper handling of Optimum Re's retention and other treaty parameters pertaining to Next Layer business, specifically Jumbo cases.
Adhere to company Risk Management Guidelines. Submit recommendations to address newly identified vulnerabilities and potential problems.

Oversee Retro Billing activities:
Manage the retro billing statements.
Be responsive to retro questions.
Coordinate responses to retrocessionaire's inquiries.

Assisting in other Administration Department duties as needed such as:
Ensure execution of premium analysis.

Maintain direct report's motivation and morale to meet dept. service deliverables in a high volume work environment with rapid change.
Being able to quickly and creatively adapt management strategies to reach desired objectives.
Balancing the need to meet time sensitive processing deadlines while providing support to your direct reports and other departments.
Ability to play different roles simultaneously (Hands-on and management).
Quickly gaining an in depth understanding of the company's operations, administrative system, processing procedures and a diverse client base to prevent or minimize dept. backlogs.
Working with a small number of high profile and high dollar external clients with inflexible processing procedures.





Required Skills

Qualifications:
Bachelor degree
LOMA certification FLMI and 440 exam
5-10 years experience in life insurance administration/reinsurance areas
3-5 years experience in the management of staff
Intermediate knowledge of proprietary Application software (i.e., ALFRED, Cyberdocs, etc.) preferred
Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Responsibilities:
Ability to work autonomously to prioritize day to day objectives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Effort:
Ability to analyze research and resolve complex reinsurance administration servicing issues.

Working Conditions:
Ability to be accessible and provide support to direct reports during business hours.
Limited travel
