Work with a World Leader in the Healthcare industry in Newark, NJ, the state's oldest and largest health insurer, as a Senior Business Analyst.
Position Description:
A Senior Business Systems/Data Analyst is needed for a major Health Insurance Company in the NY Metro/Northern NJ area. Responsibilities will include:
Understanding how the Data Repository gets populated from legacy systems.
Troubleshooting problems with the Legacy Data Loads.
Understanding requests for data from the Data Repository.
Writing technical requirements for:
Fixes to Data Loading scripts.
Projects requesting data.
Specific Duties:
The Senior Business Systems/Data Analyst:
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs.
Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies.
Writes detailed description(s) of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop and/or modify computer programs.
Documents algorithms.
Identifies logical system architecture.
Specifies system interfaces.
Documents operational requirements.

This is a Contract to Direct Hire position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, based in New York City. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support most of the top rated IT companies on the East Coast.
Required Skills
Required Skills for this Senior Business Analyst position include the following:
Candidate must possess technical savvy to analyze provider, enrollment, and claims data.
Prior experience as a SQL Developer is a PLUS; however, SQL skills to read data are required.
Candidate should be proficient in writing Queries and Joins in SQL Server 2000/2005.
Prior experience in the Health Insurance field is not required, but is a PLUS.
"Senior" means at least 8+ years of experience.
Communication skills and soft skills are very important.
Leadership Skills:
Ability to:
Present results of Data Analysis to Management Teams
Lead/direct small teams for the duration of specific projects or work efforts.
Suggest operational and/or manual process improvements to improve quality of data.
Project Management Skills:
Ability to:
Track the lifecycle of a development project.
Influence team members to drive completion of a task or project.
Savvy enough to know when to escalate risks/issues to Management.
Must possess communication skills to be able to speak with internal customers, and also to Software Development teams.
