Job Listing: IT Software Engineer - Java, C, Linux
5 Month Contract Position
This position requires being at the front end of managing and supporting a multi-OS IT and Engineering start-up type environment.
Essential functions for this IT Software Engineer position include:
The planning and build-out of new labs (network, power, cooling and peripheral support design), equipment purchasing and procurement, physical rack mounting of servers, advanced configuration and troubleshooting of servers and networks, and creative and challenging in-house IT SW application and script design and development will be high priority.
Server, network and application monitoring, the ability to implement, design and maintain backups, including off-site disaster recovery plans, DHCP servers running neo PXE on Linux, TWiki servers with advanced access controlled list using Apache and LDAP, and general knowledge of the company's latest x64 based machines.

This is an estimated 5 month contract position through Volt Technical Resources, a member of the Volt family of companies and a publicly traded, nationally recognized leader in providing staffing and information services. Required Skills
Required Skills for this IT Software Engineer position include 7+ years in the following:
Detailed knowledge of fundamental software apps and network tools such as NIS, LDAP, DHCP, PXE, NEO PXE, SUBVERSION, TWIKI, APACHE on Linux and Solaris 10.
Detailed knowledge of Windows based system configuration tools.
SW and HW RAID Administration on Linux and Solaris x86 experience.
Experience with LDAP configuration and ability to develop tools that are based on LDAP database queries.
Solid knowledge and hands on experience in Software Development.
Experience with Java and C programming languages are highly desirable.
Experience with JavaScript, Perl and Shell scripting languages is expected.
Ability to maintain, administer, modify and/or design and implement a LAMP type of tool.
Windows Desktop and Server Administration is desirable.
Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree
Bonus Skills:
Experience creating custom RPMs (RedHat).
Knowledge of Autoyast, Jumpstart and Kickstart configurations.
Disaster recovery including Legato Networker and maintaining attached library devices is preferred.
Installation, configuration and maintenance of Postgres databases preferred.
