Major Duties
You will be responsible for the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of aircraft. You will sequence, space and issue clearance & control instructions to all VFR and IFR aircraft operating in the area of responsibility. Maintain a constant radio watch of assigned and emergency radio frequencies. Monitor navigational aids & control panels. Advise pilots of restricted area status, paradrop activities & weather warnings. Receive, post & relay flight data to Local Controller and Ground Control/Clearance Delivery. Relay IFR and VFR departure and arrival times, clearances, control instructions and other information from Local Control to appropriate facilities. Initiate emergency procedures as needed. Issue taxi instructions, field information, altimeter setting & time to departing aircraft; issues taxi instruction to arriving aircraft; control vehicular traffic operating on landing area; coordinate with the local controller on job functions. Provide training to military & civilian controllers.

General Schedule SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience in a military or civilian air traffic facility that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the level of work required by the position. A working knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations and procedures governing the movement of air traffic flight. Knowledge of landing and takeoff characteristics for different aircraft; skill in the evaluation of aircraft type, airspeed climb and descent rates, weather phenomena, required separation standards, aircraft equipment limitations, wake turbulence applications and noise abatement procedures.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1) Must meet criteria outlined in AR 95-2, paragraph 2-1 b(2). This includes being a certified graduate of an ATC school and meeting physical fitness requirements IAW AR 40-501. 2) This position is designated as Drug Testing Required. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with DA guidelines. 3) Position is designated as a KEY Position IAW AR 690-8. Position may not be filled by a Ready Reservist. 4) Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Your pay will be set within the range specified in this vacancy announcement and will be based on your qualification, education, experience, training, and availability of funds. NSPS positions are excluded from time-in-grade restrictions.Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower pay band or equivalent under the General Schedule (GS) or other pay systems. Quality of experience relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background and recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must have the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level.

A medical examination is required.Must comply with Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.Maximum entry age of 36 applies for Air Traffic Controllers. One year trial/probationary period may be required.
