OPERATOR WORK includes operating a variety of diesel and gasoline powered snow

QUALIFICATIONS SECTION: The following summarizes the qualification standard for this position found in the Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (Handbook X-118C) http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/x-118c/index.asp. To qualify, there is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate enough experience in your application to show you possess sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide employee services to operate the vacuum type sweepers to maintain aircraft runways, taxiways and parking aprons.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES / JOB ELEMENTS:
1. Ability to perform airfield cleaning equipment duties without more then normal supervision (Screen Out Element).
2. Knowledge of operating vacuum type sweeper for airfield maintenance.
3. Operates magnetic sweepers on aircraft parking ramp and base streets to pick up metal and foreign objects.
4. Maintains routine inspection on vehicles.
5. Operates blowers, drivers, and graders to clear runways, taxiways, aprons of snow, and/or ramps.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.
