About the Position: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, employ about 1,250 employees at projects and offices throughout a 700,00-square-mile area of the Missouri River Basin, from Rulo, Neb., to Fort Peck, Mont. The district office, in downtown Omaha, is just blocks from the Missouri River and the city?s major redevelopment efforts. Major Duties

Incumbent is responsible for the preparation of project specifications thru study of contract drawings and consultation with designers. Individual researches manufacturer's data, industry standards, and Government material as required. Has responsibility for the preparation of the Special Provisions of the Contract Specifications. Coordinate specification preparation between the Corps of Engineers and other agencies. Based on given design plans, drafts detail specifications covering assigned items of construction indicated above. Review plans for completeness and accuracy. Assemble guide material and technical data to support draft. Exercise engineering judgment in precisely expressing the meaning of drawings and providing supplemental information to constitute-the technical portion of contract specifications. Compute estimated time and cost, as pertains to the section, required to complete the various features as described herein above.

General Schedule To qualify applicants must meet both the minimum education requirement and the specialized experience requirement. ***MINIMUM EDUCATION- MUST POSSESS A BACHELORS DEGREE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE POSITION BEING FILLED (ENGINEERING OR ARCHITECTURE).*** Applicants must also demonstrate 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band. Specialized experience is further defined as: experience with contract specification, contract development, and experience in engineering principles, concepts, practices, and established methodology sufficient to perform the full range of duties involved in writing specifications.The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.Your pay will be set within the range specified in this vacancy announcement and will be based on your qualification, education, experience, training, and availability of funds.
