As the Lead Firmware Engineer, incumbent will support the organization's effort to bring Joint Counter RCIED (Remote Controlled Improvised Explosive Device) Electronic Warfare, (JCREW), 3.3 product through product design, validation and implementation activities in conjunction with prime vendors and by leveraging external and internal engineering partnerships.
Major Duties
This position (Lead Firmware Engineer) will support the organization’s effort to bring JCREW 3.3 product through product design, validation and implementation activities in conjunction with prime vendors and by leveraging external and internal engineering partnerships. Essential functions include:
Organize, lead, manage and champion projects including new product software and existing product redesign by utilizing both in-house resources as well as contractors.Resolve product issues at plants, Original Equipment Manufacturers, (OEMs), end users, suppliers or in development process.Predict, specify, and measure product performance and life.Design tests or test facilities and instruct/lead technicians and other engineering partners through testing procedures to ensure proper testing.Conduct root-cause failure analysis and design and develop solutions to address failures and lead engineering partners in process of implementing solutions.Lead external partners and internal engineering resources through system engineering activities related to integrating software products with other systems.Assist JCREW 3.3 Project Lead with human resources, equipment, and budget planning.Introduce and implement (through training) new or re-designed products to plants, OEM’s, end users, and other functional groups.Build and maintain relationships with plants, OEMs, end users and other functional groups.Obtain and communicate the needs of plants, OEMs, end users and other functional groups to engineering partners to ensure voice of customer is satisfied in product design and testing.Direct and aid in the personnel development of other engineers and engineering partners to achieve department objectives.Utilize analytical skills to provide system analysis and ensure system integration of associated products.Related work experience in C/C++ in a real-time embedded hardware environment in required. Knowledge of layered and modular approaches for subsystems and components incorporating supporting operating systems, resource management, middleware, adaption. Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), and firmware along with working knowledge of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) utilizing Open Core Protocal (OCP) standards and procedures is required. Demonstrated knowledge of software development processes and specific tool flows relevant to General Purpose Processor (GPP) and FPGA code development and Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) is a plus.

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level close to the work of this job that has given you the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform. Typically we would find this experience in work within this field or a field that is closely related. Specialized Education:
Applicants are required to show the successful completion of a full 4-year professional engineering curriculum leading to a Bachelor's or higher level degree in the engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college or university. In addition, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the ND-3 level is required for the ND-4. This is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
Must complete a background investigation and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Position requires travel 25% of the time.
