About the Position: The Software Engineering Center provides life-cycle software products and services that enhance Army/Joint warfighting, management, and support capabilities to ensure that Americas warfighters continue to own the decisive edge from the battlespace through the sustaining base.

Major Duties
The incumbent of this position will organize, direct and manage the security activities of a major U.S. Army industrial base software development facility. Provide Department of Defense and U.S. Army security policy interpretation for local implementation directives and/or guidance to the organization. Coordinate security issues, policies and implementation reference information security with and among the various responsible coordinating agencies. Represent organization at various security meetings held at the local, Post, Major Commands (MACOM) and Army levels. Provide budget input, operating standards and oversight concerning industrial, personnel, automation, and information security issues to the government staff and support contractors. Manage information security awareness, crime prevention, and physical security programs and associated plans. Identify and resolve any programmatic issues that may influence software quality, increase development costs, or delay software fielding.

General Schedule SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To be qualified, candidates for this position must show in their resume that they have (1) Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) principles, concepts, and methods, e.g. data storage, software applications, networking, etc., (2) Knowledge of information security awareness, crime prevention, and physical security programs and associated plans and (3) Knowledge of IT technology as it refers to systems and services used in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, assurance, or reception of information.
Incumbent travels more than 25% of the time in a TDY status. Is subject to travel on short notice (i.e. less than 24 hours notice). Position is ADP sensitive. There is potential exposure to lasers, microwaves, and/or ionizing radiation requiring pre-placement, periodic, and termination physicals as a condition of employment.
*This is an Army Acquisition and Technology Workforce position*. This position is in the Science and Technology (S&T) Reinvention Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project and incorporates the former GS-12 step 1 through GS-13 step 10 grade levels and salary levels. Pay increases within the pay band will be accomplished through the Contribution-Based Compensation and Appraisal System (CCAS).
The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Management's basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement.One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled.Demonstrated work experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.GS-12 and above: One year of experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. There is no substitution of education for experience at this level.

Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Career Field Position.This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet position requirements for certification at Level 3 in Acquisition Career Field Communications - Computer Systems within 24 months of entrance on duty. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. Direct Deposit of Pay is Required. This is a DOD Demonstration Project position.You may claim Military Spouse Preference.
