The Hardware/Development Engineer Technician is responsible for the engineering support activities associated with new product and other development projects. Operates in a position supporting engineers in product development, product support and product change qualification. They perform non-routine assignments of substantial variety and difficulty. They receive objectives and technical advice from a supervisor with work being reviewed for technical adequacy upon completion.
Required Skills
Education Requirements
A.A.S. in electrical engineering or two years science/engineering in college.
Experience Requirements
2-5 years based on experience and skill development
General Requirements
1) A sound basic understanding of modern electrical engineering principals is a necessity. This should include fundamentals of analog and digital circuits, microprocessor architecture and software engineering practices. Requires basic lab skills such as soldering, use of test equipment and troubleshooting skills. Skills involving software would be basic familiarity with assembly code, higher
level languages and general testing procedures.
2) Be aware and adhere to the company procedures, policies, standards and equipment that are related to new product development. Specifically, develop a sound understanding of component derating and environmental specifications.
Make recommendations that will increase the efficiency of their own and/or related operations.
3) Have the ability to organize, plan, his/her own activities to accomplish tasks that are assigned. Provide timely communication as to progress and commitments as to the completion date.
4) Have the ability to analyze data drawing upon his/her technical experience and make recommendations to the supervisor. Document these findings in clearly written reports.
