Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital is located 12 miles west of downtown Chicago on a large 147 acre campus.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in the General Medicine/Subspecialty Outpatient Clinics. Under the supervision of a licensed RN, Nurse Practitioner, or physician, the LPN is accountable for the quality of nursing care he/she provides utilizing the nursing process. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: provide preventive health care (clinical reminders) and patient education; obtain EKG, vital signs, height and weight; glucose, finger stick; pulse oximetry; prepare and apply oxygen, patient transport and electronic documentation.
Applicant selected for this position is eligible to apply for an Education Loan Reimbursement under the provision of the Education Debt Reduction Program.

Qualifications
Strong patient assessment, EKG, and phlebotomy skills required. Two (2) years medical/surgical background required. Knowledge and skill sufficient to prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per facility policies and procedures. Knowledge and ability to recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations and initiate appropriate responses. CPR current. Excellent interpersonal and patient education skills. Demonstrated leadership, self-directed,, and rational problem solving skills. Works well with interdisciplinary team. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

Salary Range: 42,014.00 - 52,700.00 USD per yearSalary to be determined by Nurse Professional Standards Board (NPSB)
