Job Listing: Sr. Technical Architect

Summary:

This position is the second level in the Technical Career Path.

Incumbents in this position work as part of a project team to provide architectural, implementation and operational design support for a broad range of architectural and infrastructure technologies focusing primarily on data center consolidation/integration.

Incumbent has a broad knowledge of the following areas:

Installation/configuration and support of VM Ware Virtual Center 2.0/2.5, VMotion, DRS, HA, ESX 2.5/3.0/3.5, NetApp Storage provisioning and capacity planning, Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Linux including performance/tuning and strong documentation skills.

Incumbents in this position support planning, designing, and implementation of the company’s Production / Stage / CD / SQA / Development environments focusing on integrating them into the company’s co-location Datacenter.

General Job Duties:

Participate as part of a project team in designing, developing and implementing architectural and infrastructure integration of legacy systems into the company’s new co-location Datacenter.

Participate in developing datacenter integration guidelines and procedures.

Manage small to medium-sized projects or portions of large projects and assist in resolving issues and planning for new datacenter applications and services.

Identify and recommend opportunities to improve and enhance communication services to internal and external customers.

Establishes program budget and timelines for small to medium-sized programs or portions of a program; manage assigned segment of program within budget and time constraints.

Monitor and report to management on program status, identify issues that may impede attainment of goals, recommend and implement corrective measures.

Provide technical direction and training to more junior Technical Services personnel.

Perform other duties as required.

Specific Job Duties:

Serve as Tier 2 Administrator focusing on the integration of legacy systems into the company’s new co-location datacenter.

Act as a subject matter expert in the area of managing, and integrating diverse Infrastructures with strong background knowledge of VM ware, NetApp, Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Linux technologies.

Ability to effectively manage projects.

Participate in datacenter integration environment design and implementation.

Performs and leads production activities that include system integration.

Provides detailed documentation of new integration systems and overall integration process.

Participate in backup, recovery and performance tuning of the new integration environment.

OnCall responsibility.

Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelors in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience.

5 + years of experience in years experience installing and maintaining, and administering VM Ware, Windows server, Red Hat Linux, and NetApp technologies.

Advanced working knowledge of computer operating systems (Windows Server 2000/2003 Server and XP Workstation), network concepts, TCP/IP, desktop applications (MS Office XP) and knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.

Experience in analyzing, designing, planning, implementing, and documenting datacenter integrations.

Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks, both long and short term, simultaneously in a fast paced, diverse and growth-oriented environment.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Work closely with third-party vendors to ensure problem resolution, or successful software or hardware implementation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong interpersonal skills – must be able to work effectively as part of a project/program team and foster team cooperation.

Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting and setting timelines.

Stays current with rapidly changing technology and applies it to business needs.

Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Professional certification as warranted.

Organizational Relationships

Reports directly to Global Server manager.

Communicates with departmental and business unit personnel throughout the organization to facilitate planning and implementation of technology services.

May act in a lead capacity on small to mid-sized projects.

Works effectively as part of a project team.
