A Portland, Maine based Web 2.0 company, is looking for a senior developer to lead a growing team of 4-6 developers to build and expand Web sites in the growing field of Web comics. Experience building high-availability, high traffic web applications is required, and a history of successfully managing small-to-medium sized development teams is a must. Candidates should have the skills to build the structure, process and team required to yield a solid, reusable and extendable technical infrastructure.
Our client's platform includes PHP/Zend, MySQL, YUI, JavaScript, hosted on Amazon Web Services.
Web site development goals include:
- Empower the distribution of our user’s content in ever-expanding ways - mobile devices, podcasts, widgets, syndication tools, etc.
- Merchandise platform with many suppliers to empower users to market products containing their content.
- Highly customizable micro-sites for our creator/users to host their comics
- Tools and infrastructure to enable customized and powerful campaigns for advertisers, partnerships and sponsors.
- Large body of tools to manage and enhance the image and written content of the client's products themselves and ready them for distribution in many forms – mobile devices, books, merchandise, etc.
- Strong financial & reporting backbone, including a revenue-sharing system to enable micro-payments for all products and ad revenue to be shared with content creators on the sites.
- Internationalization features to support and drive our large overseas audience and opportunities.
- Building out a children’s-oriented comic site with a household–name partner. The site will include comic creation tools for children and other age-appropriate material.
