Job Listing: SQL Database Administrator

TEKsystems is looking for a SQL Database Administrator for a full-time opportunity with a large insurance company in Des Moines

Responsibilities included but are not limited to:

1. To build, maintain and support enterprise-wide database systems by implementing database management policies and standards that ensure the security and integrity of the databases.

2. To understand company/user data needs, resulting in the creation and maintenance of data structures that optimize the storage and retrieval of company data.

3. To assist business users (internal or external to IT) in their database needs, helping them understand the data types and structures contained within the various databases.

4. To build and maintain data dictionaries, data tables and other database components.

5. Works with IT management to develop short and long-term strategic plans for the database needs of the company.

6. To troubleshoot data queries submitted by business users, determining/resolving data issues. Recommends addition/modification of data within the databases based on requests and business user needs.
7. To develop, schedule and document database operations, including the extraction, loading, moving, archival and backup of the respective databases.
8. To conduct Database audits, ridding he system of old, unused or duplicate data.
9. To monitor and troubleshoot Database performance by auditing and testing database elements for integrity, accuracy and quality.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- 5-7 years of progressively responsible Database experience
- Understands SQL, relational and multi-dimensional database structures and architecture.
- Oracle RAC, UDB, DB2, SQL server 2000/2005 with clustering & paritioning and Information skills are a plus.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of database security, database installation, configuration, tuning and back-up recovery best practices.

- Experience in the life insurance industry is a plus.
