Our client, a large, successful and frequently recognized retail company in Richmond, VA is seeking a PowerBuilder Developer to join their dynamic team! This individual will serve as a member of the Store Systems Team within the client's Information Systems (IS) Department. The Store Systems Team is responsible for developing and supporting various applications developed in PowerBuilder. The majority of these applications are utilized to support the daily operations of each of the client's stores.
The PowerBuilder Developer will design, develop, test, support and maintain the Store Systems software used by the stores and corporate office associates. Develop numerous enhancements to the Store Systems modules and supporting applications, including user interface modifications, data load routines, core process changes, interactive reporting and system interfaces. Supply tactical support to ensure compliance with ever changing local and state regulations. For implementing new modules, analyze and identify the procedures for integrating current business processes into the Store System applications, with significant opportunities to improve business processing. Work with the MIS Department and store personnel regarding design reviews, gap analysis and system testing. Develop test plans, support documents and user and technical training materials.
Essential Skills: 2+ years of experience in full life cycle development of complex modules and routines within a traditional two-tier PowerBuilder environment utilizing the PowerBuilder Foundation Class (PFC) is required. Experience in database design and modeling utilizing Sybase, SQL Server or other large database platforms is also required, in addition to experience in slide timings and data security enhancements. Experience in UNIX commands and scripts is essential, as well as ability to modify procedures and triggers and work within a fast paced environment. Flexible individual with solid skills in troubleshooting, customer service, interpersonal relationships and verbal and written communication is also essential, along with IT or related degree. Knowledge of accounting practices is preferred.
6 month contract. 40+ hours per week required.
