SUMMARY:
This position of Technical Support Consultant supports on-site client related customer projects, implementations, trouble resolutions and acts as liaison between client and its customer for all related matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
Supports the customer on all matters relating to customer service and acts as the liaison between the customer and client. Works with internal client organizations such as service delivery, Solution Management Center (SMC), sales, project engineering and acts as a technical resource for Field Services Statements of Work (SOW) changes. Acts as a first point of contact for all technical matters related to client. Assists with the design, implementation, and any on-going changes of customer virtual private networks within the client core network. Documents and works with technical training as appropriate to provide wide-spread knowledge of customer specific processes on new projects to include Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) fulfillment. Works with internal client organizations such as network activations, sales, and SMC on new and legacy customer projects including network grooms; works with customer and product development on testing new CPE and product concepts as it applies to the specific customer. Provides adhoc reporting as necessitated by the projects at hand.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 5 years technical telecommunications experience
Must maintain a mature professional attitude and appearance at all times and be able to manage the customer during stressful situations
Able to facilitate hands-on service implementations at customers premise
Accessible 24/7 as required
Ability to troubleshoot and isolate deep-rooted chronic circuit level problems
Experience troubleshooting layer 1 xDSL and private line problems
In-depth knowledge of CPE, including Cisco, Juniper J series, Netopia ENT series
In-depth knowledge of the following; TDM, Frame Relay, ATM, IP, VoIP, BGP, VPN, SIP, MGCP, MPLS, L2TP & GRE
Must have advanced understanding and experience with layer 3 IP routing and VPN tunneling
Experience with local/remote physical layer testing standards for DS-0/1/3
Experience with an industry standard telecom ticketing systems
Proficiency with various operating systems including; Windows, Sun OS, and Various Linux distributions; and Monitoring software such as Nagios, Net Cool, Cacti, Etc
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access & Microsoft Visio.
Experience with creating custom- networking scripts using Perl, Python, Expect, etc.
Experience documenting new processes and procedures
Cisco CCNP Preferred
