Job Listing: Lead Storage Firmware Engineer

Aerotek CE is currently looking for a Software Engineering Leader for a company located in Minnesota. This is a direct hire position.


Responsibilities:

-- Lead a small team of firmware engineers to conceive, design and implement storage software/firmware products for storage markets including schedules and milestone deliverables
-- Define complex software system architectures for enterprise storage equipment
-- Participate as part of a team in the technical analysis and integration of storage firmware architectures including SATA/SAS/RAID architectures
--Contribute architectural and functional design ideas related to storage to a silicon design team
-- Be responsible for the day to day activities of the Firmware for a storage product including interactions with customers and internal groups
-- Assist in the execution and evolution of the development process
-- Specification of features and architecture of firmware components for new products
-- Technically lead small teams in planning, design, and implementation, verification and tracking of firmware components
-- Design, development, integration, debugging, and verification of embedded firmware in C and Assembly
-- Program embedded MIPS processors to implement core firmware/software subsystems.
-- Participate in detailed design and code reviews of implementations
-- Troubleshoot and resolve complex software problems in embedded real-time systems.
-- Analyze firmware performance (frame rates, cycle counts, cache utilization)

Qualifications:

--BSEE or BS Computer Science/Math with emphasis in storage processing
--8+ years of software/firmware system development for real-time streaming media systems, or demonstrated comparable experience
-- 3+ years in a technical leadership position
-- Detailed working knowledge of firmware design and implementation
-- Demonstrated ability to conceive, design, implement and document complex firmware systems
-- Designer of embedded software systems.
-- Proficient programmer in C and assembly for embedded devices
-- Knowledge of RTOS constructs including processes, threads, scheduling, synchronization mechanisms, memory management
-- Knowledgeable in use of tool chains and debug tools
-- Ability to plan work and lead product development team
--Demonstrated ability to complete software product development (through commercial release)


Desirable Qualifications:

-- Experience in storage protocol development such as SCSI, Fiber Channel, SAS/SATA, RAID and/or enclosure management
-- Experience with RAID/HBA and SAS/SATA/SCSI architectures
-- Have implemented RAID protection algorithms
-- Knowledge of OS driver architectures in Windows/Linux
