Duties: The Deputy Director, Office of Global Support (OGS), provides a sole focal point for centralized program management of both deployed (extended temporary duty) and externally assigned (permanent change of station) personnel. Manages the manpower and contractor resources in Washington D.C. and St. Louis, MO and externally assigned locations that focus on supporting NGA’s forward deployed presence at mission partner sites.

Technical Qualification Requirements: Applicants will be rated on the “Specialized Experience” requirements and “Additional Factors” identified below which are essential for successful performance in the position. These statements should be included as separate attachments (not to exceed 2 pages for Specialized Experience and 2 pages for each Additional Factor) and are a narrative explanation of your relevant background and experience. These statements must show that your experience, education, and accomplishments reflect the competence and professional standing required to provide expertise required by this position. Technical Qualification Statements that do not clearly address the qualification criteria will not be adequate for evaluation. (A recommended approach for addressing the Technical Qualifications is provided at the end of this vacancy announcement.)
A. Specialized Experience:
Candidates must have at least three years of specialized experience, characteristic of and as described above in the duties and responsibilities. Candidate should also have: Demonstrated ability to develop an organizational vision that supports key agency and program goals and management experience that promotes diversity and maximizes employees’ unique capabilities to contribute to the organization’s goals.
B. Additional Factors: The following will be considered in determining the candidate’s qualifications:
1. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the organizations, processes, programs and policies of the National Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense including the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, Joint Commands, the Military Services, and the Defense Agencies. Direct experience with military customers or other IC agencies is highly desired.
2. Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, administer and coordinate deployed and externally assigned workforce issues, to include knowledge on travel, budget and execution, supply and logistics, and human development.
3. In-depth knowledge of customer requirements and demonstrated ability to respond in an expeditious manner. Includes experience in analyzing problem areas, identifying courses of action, and recommending solutions within resource limitations.
4. Outstanding oral and written communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to interact with senior policy officials and customers within the Agency, throughout the Intelligence Community, and DoD.
List of Publications: Provide a list of publications or papers you have authored with title, date, and any co-authors, and state the impact on the scientific, technical and/or intelligence community.
Educational background to include a bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
Employment is subject to requirements of the NGA Drug Testing Program.
BRAC INFORMATION: As a result of the Department of Defense (DOD) Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) initiative, all major NGA facilities within the greater Washington, DC metro area will be consolidated to Springfield, VA in 2011. Note that you may be required to relocate in the future, based on mission need, nature of work performed by NGA, and the needs of NGA partners worldwide.
