Job Listing: Manager, Network Support Team

Primary responsibilities include direct supervisory of 24x7x365 network support staff. Over see the support and proactive management of a large distributed environment. Other responsibilities will include providing professional and technical leadership to team members and regional contacts, resolution of complex technical issues, systems maintenance and planning, enhancement and management via management tools (Spectrum, E-Health, Concord, Ciscoworks, Sniffer, NetScout, etc.) and policies, evaluating impact of new releases and updates of networking hardware and software, developing and maintaining operational standards and procedures.

Provide daily direction to network support team. Act as the primary contact for personnel issues.
Focus on the daily operation support of the Comcast enterprise network. Ensure that Remedy tickets are being worked to resolution in a timely fashion.
Work with the network engineering team to develop strong relationships with other Comcast business units.
Review key network performance metrics and Change Management statistics to ensure that the Comcast enterprise network is operating in an efficient manner.
Review statistics of off-hour support and Remedy tickets to optimize the network support team’s performance.
Ensure that escalated network service issues are resolved in an efficient manner. Provide the appropriate follow-up with the escalating manager.
Work with the Division Support Center (DSC) and Enterprise Network Engineering team to identify opportunities to improve the efficiencies of the Comcast enterprise network. Coordinate periodic operational meetings to review network performance statistics.
Provide career development direction for the network team.
Act as a Comcast liaison to key vendors for operational/support issues (i.e. Cisco, Network Associates, Sprint, AT&T, etc.). Coordinate meetings to review operations issues and new products and services. Meet with services providers to review network outages, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and mean time to repair (MTTR) statistics.
Participate in technical architecture review (TAR) meetings to understand the impact a new product or application will have on the network.
Participate in the candidate hiring and training process. Process applications, interview candidates, and plan initial new hire activities as required
Review and assist in management of personnel schedules, policies and procedures.
Assist engineering teams in the preparation of project schedules and in the provisioning of resources to help meet scheduled deadlines.
Manage multiple projects using standard project management techniques.
Provide technical and supervisory direction to team members including: Paid Time Off reporting, effective technical training programs establish and track projects and goals in preparation for annual performance reviews. Conducts effective progress evaluations in a timely manner.

Required Skills

Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or other related studies.
6+ years experience in a high-paced, dynamic technical environment (4+ years of technical experience; 2+ years of managerial experience).
Solid understanding of Information Technology theory, Microsoft/Unix operating systems concepts and business management techniques.
Experience managing a large team. Experience in managing organizational growth, providing career development and conducting employee reviews.
Experience monitoring key operational metrics to measure team performance and efficiencies.
Strong communication skills for interaction with key vendors and other Comcast business units.
Highly motivated, well-organized and strong project management skills.
