Job Listing: QA Release Manager

One of our direct clients is seeking an highly experienced QA Release Manager for a contract position in Bloomfield, CT.

Description:
3 + years systems experiences with broad-based technical knowledge.  Expertise in client/server application development, implementation and LAN operations in a distributed environment required.

Proven experience in implementing and supporting Windows 2000 / 2003 and Windows XP applications utilizing tools such as: Visual BASIC, DDE/OLE, ODBC, DB-Lib, MAPI, DOTNET (.NET), IIS server configuration, Database servers/gateways, etc.

Knowledge of the use of database technologies such as UDB, SQL Server in relation to the application LAN environment and test procedures.

Ability to assess risk and predict operational and environmental implications of a newly developed client/server application based on its design.

Demonstrated ability to learn and assimilate new technologies quickly and independently in order to keep abreast of our rapidly changing environment.

Detailed knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 and Windows XP internals (e.g., memory / resource and management, security model, etc).

Knowledge of Software distribution concepts (active directory, Marimba or SCCM) desired
Ability to facilitate assessment meeting to define scope of pre-production testing required

Additional Information:

This is not a true testing role, i.e. manual or automated; this is a release management role.  So this consultant will be working with the testers and the developers and the infrastructure team to foresee any issues that may happen before they release the new application into the existing environment. 

There will be some PM skills involved in the coordination of release activity. 

The candidate will have to understand how the application will effect the environment and how to test for any potential problems before they are released.
