Job Listing: Plant Operator

Our client is a technology-driven natural resources company that converts residual coal into LNG. They in the midst of constructing and starting up a coal gasification plant that will be located in Somerset, MA.

They company is looking to bring on several Plant Operators that will assist in the plant startup. The essential duties and responsibilities for the position are listed below:

1. Set valves and operates pumps to transfer process materials to proper destination.
2. Watches for and recognizes abnormal conditions or situations and exercises initiative to correct or call to attention of Shift Team Lead or On Call Supervisor.
3. Maintains data cards, operating records and log books for his assignment.
4. Takes samples according to prescribed schedule and procedure.
5. Performs minor maintenance and repair of equipment. Reports other maintenance requirements to Shift Team Lead and prepares work request for needed maintenance.
6. Cleans plugged lines, etc., with or without assistance of Maintenance personnel depending on situation.
7. Gauges tanks and weighs drums.
8. Packages and weighs finished product. Performs test weighing as required.
9. Observes strict safety precautions, knows emergency shutdown procedures.
10. Sees that sufficient operating materials and supplies are available at operating site.
11. Inspects safety equipment daily.
12. Familiar with and follows operating procedures for the area assigned. Submits to testing as required to verify knowledge and determine needed training.
13. Takes steps necessary to assure product quality.
14. Ability to drive a forklift

Required Skills for Plant Operator Job:

  • 2ND CLASS FIREMANS LICENSE
  • BOILER/PLANT OPERATING EXPERIENCE
  • STRONG MECHANICAL APTITUDE
  • HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT
  • GREAT ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
  • CLOSE ATTENTION TO DETAIL
