Job Title: Chemist
Education: B. S. Chemistry or Equivalent (Minimum).
Qualifications: Integrity, good work ethics, passion for details, team player, strong organizational skills, multitasking, positive attitude, enthusiasm, sense of urgency, resourcefulness, desire to help others, follow through, and company loyalty.
Experience: Two years MS Windows & MS Office. Three years classical chemistry (gravimetric, volumetric, colorimetric, digestion, distillation), and three years instrumental chemical analyses (Three of the following: FAA, GFAA, GC, GC-MS, IR, LC, IC, ICP, ICPMS).
Goals: Efficient and effective processing of sample analyses to maximize the number of billable samples. Revision and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures. Train personnel. Validate and sign reports.
What is to be done:
Primary Objectives: submit accurate, precise, on time, complete, fully documented results per USEPA Method protocols (SW-846, 600, 500). comply with required data integrity, QA/QC, documentation, security, and Health & Safety. Prioritize work, and analyst’s time to meet production goals. Assist analysts with sample overload and fill-in for personnel on leave.
Responsibilities and Duties (Specific Objectives):
- Schedule self to provide effective, efficient, and timely production.
- Schedule work to meet Holding Time and Turn-Around Time.
- Notify client services immediately of potentially compromised analyses -- holding time, due date, etc.
- Ensure analyses are conducted with strict adherence to method protocol and SOPs.
- Ensure submittal of complete, accurate, timely, and organized documentation.
- Ensure maintenance of instrument, supplies, run logs, std logs, etc.
- Review data for completeness (requested analytes, QA/QC report, raw data, prep. data, CCV, etc.).
- Review data for accuracy (check analyst calculations, dilutions, sample prep., etc.).
- Review data for reliability (degradation, tailing, coelution, LCS/LCSD, MS/MSD, Blank, contaminants, etc.).
- Sanity check (does data make sense -- ion balance, BTEX GRO, confirmatory results, Inf. > Eff., etc.).
