Job Listing: Systems Admin-Solaris/SAN

TEKsystems client in Ft. Knox, KY is searching for a Unix Systems Admin. who has experience with SUN UNIX, Solaris, and SAN. This is a 6 month right to hire position.

This candidate will need to maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

The candidate will also be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining large, complex UNIX servers, including Web and database servers in support of critical business processing requirements. Performs software installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and layered software packages. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Ensures UNIX server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services. Enforces standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of UNIX servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures. Develops, maintains and approves a comprehensive UNIX hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation. Supervises and/or mentors lower level administrators.
