Our client in Wood-Ridge, NJ is in need of a process engineer.
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager – Aero Products, NJ Operations
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Aero Products, and interfacing with other members of the Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Departments, the Process Engineer suggests and implements procedures and methods necessary to control or improve the manufacturing process, troubleshooting problems and identifying opportunities for yield improvements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
a. Evaluates and monitors the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel
b. Records, analyzes and reports process data.
c. Using the available data, suggests and implements procedures and methods to control or improve the manufacturing process
d. Troubleshoots problems, calibrates equipment and monitors maintenance
e. Identifies opportunities for yield improvement
f. Establishes and maintains a good interface with the Manufacturing and Quality Control Departments
g. Provides linkage between Engineering and other supporting departments.
h. Participates in cross-functional teams
i. Makes technical presentations
j. Makes technical visits on behalf of Company to technical groups at various suppliers, customers, and other organizations.
k. Evaluates and interacts with current equipment vendors and identifies new equipment vendors, as needed.
l. Communicates with people on all levels both within and outside the organization.
m. Some travel may be required (up to 15%).
n. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
I. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
b. Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing of aerospace applications.
c. Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and design of parts for aerospace environments.
d. Computer skills, knowledge of, and the ability to work with, Microsoft Office applications
e. Injection molding experience, preferred
f. Lean Mfg Experience, preferred
g. Six Sigma Black Belt, preferred
h. Strong interpersonal skills
i. Good communication and documentation skills
j. Ability to communicate with employees at all levels in the organization
k. Ability to make presentations to groups of people and answer technical questions or concerns they may have.
l. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
m. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
n. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
o. Ability to multitask.
p. Self-started, self-motivated, hands-on
q. Strong ability to work independently and under pressure, with minimal supervision
r. Ability to work with other product and process engineers.
s. Team-working spirit, creativity, ability and drive to create extraordinary solutions for customers
II. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
a. Work performed in an office and factory settings.
b. Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facilities
c. Requires work on the factory floor, in either own or customers’ facilities
d. Exposure to the manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment
e. Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, and odors
f. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting up to 20 lbs as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day.
