Our client is seeking an experienced AC power engineer to take a team leadership in the design, production, follow and test of AC electrical power systems for airborne vehicles and their ground support facilities. The successful candidate will have at least a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 10 years demonstrated design experience in AC power systems. Demonstrated experience in AC power system modeling using PSPICE or equivalent analysis tools is required, as is power system management. This includes the design of custom transformers, power transmission and distribution circuitry. Demonstrated experience with 3-phase power as well as multiple frequencies (50, 60 and 400 Hz) is necessary. Familiarity with electric power generators, frequency converters, M/G sets, power distribution equipment and control equipment, battery power and charging systems, motors, controllers, UPS systems and power control electronics and switchgear is expected .Experience with corona, lightning and EMI/EMP protection is a definite plus.
The candidate should be knowledgeable in NEC standards and in the design of assemblies and wiring/cable interconnects typical of construction in avionics electro-mechanical installations.
The position requires a candidate with a strong work ethic and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary groups. Demonstrated experience in team leadership and budget management is an advantage. The successful candidate will lead the design and development of a new generation of unique power systems for our client airborne platforms
The candidate must possess a strong base of practical skills to enable following all aspects of the design from concept through fabrication and test.
