Job Listing: Headend Technician 2
Under minimal supervision, performs advanced Headend and OTN maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure minimal system outages, and uses knowledge of advanced networking skills to assist in the fault resolution of RF, IP and Digital Video networks. Install new technology as projects and department goals require.
Under minimal supervision, performs advanced headend and OTN maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure minimal system outages, and uses knowledge of advanced networking skills to assist in the fault resolution of RF, IP and Digital Video networks.
Customer Focus: Utilize methods to perform maintenance or changes with minimal customer impact. Able to communicate courteously and pro-actively; able to learn customers’ short term and long term needs; see issues from customers’ position, and recommend products or service; able to promote customer focus in employees and develop partnerships with customers.
Action Orientation: Able to persist and finish projects despite obstacles; able to discriminate and classify technical information and redirect efforts when necessary; able to follow instructions or take action and address opportunities with no supervision; able to take extra steps to prevent mistakes or create opportunities; able to initiate and evaluate system and network performance tests.
• Perform other duties as requested by supervisor in order to achieve departmental goals and objectives
Required Skills
Related Work Experience:
• Preferred eight years of CATV or IP network experience
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• A+ or equivalent PC experience preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
• Lift and carry loads of 70 lbs. or more
• Work while standing 50 -70% of the time
• Perform work near power lines and electricity
• Manipulate connectors, fasteners, wire; use hand tools
• Drive company vehicle in performance of duties in a safe and responsible manner
• Work and travel in inclement weather
• Must be available to work overtime including weekends, evenings and holidays
• Exposure to moderate noise level
• Participate in the On Call Rotation as assigned.
