Job Listing: Helpdesk Support

1) Straight desktop support specialists, especially hardware-related, are not very desirable.

2) First and foremost, the techs should be internet and network connectivity specialists. Solid understanding of common network architecture is important: switches, routers, hubs, firewalls, WAN, LAN, wireless, anti-virus, DHCP, etc.

3) The majority of the troubleshooting has to do with browsers; techs should possess a solid grasp of browser technologies, specifically in the direction of web apps.

4) The other stuff represents the usual suspects: sensitivity to customer concerns (they’ll be dealing with nervous teachers); ability to play nice with others within our group; no know-it-all IT types, ability to prioritize and multi-task.

5) Experience with Mac OS a bonus.

6) Background checks on candidates.
