Job Listing: Packaging Quality Engineer

Our client, an industry leader, is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Packaging Quality Engineer and perform the following duties:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

-Facilitate continuous improvement of Packaging Line system quality by supporting product development, continuing product engineering activities, as well as supplier and partner management
-Perform and/or supervise product design validation, life test, and ongoing product audit activities
-Provide oversight of contract manufacturer and/or portion packaging operations, including manufacturing process/quality system audits, FAI review, and support of continuous improvement efforts
-Perform quality system audits of material and component suppliers to assure consistently high incoming material quality; coordinate any required supplier corrective action activity
-Perform and/or supervise analysis of product returns to identify root causes, and coordinate efforts to contain and eliminate the issues identified
-Work closely with Engineering and Roaster Partners to rectify those identified opportunities for improvement & corrective action
-Develop key communications contacts at all partner & supplier locations
-Support / train Quality Engineering and technical staffing as needed
-Maintain and publish periodic reports to management summarizing field issue trends, product audit results, and other quality characteristics as required
-Other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

-BS degree in Quality, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
-7-10 years experience in support of the development and implementation of portion pack production & quality systems
-Strong working knowledge of statistical analysis/problem solving tools, sampling plans, metrology, process optimization, ISO-9000 Quality Systems, HACCP planning & FDA GMP/GLP
-Highly proficient in supplier quality management and auditing
-Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with suppliers, external partners, and all internal functions
-Strong computer skills with spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation & quality management software
-Very strong English language communications & writing skills
-ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and/or Certified Quality Auditor desirable
-Experience in high speed automated packaging operations a plus
-30%-60% domestic and international independent travel required
