The world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment has a long-term contract position available for a Design Engineer.
Position Description:
The Design Engineer is a member of a Design and Development team that conceives and provides practical and improved Product Design applications. Emphasis of this position is on conceiving concepts and designs, and leading the development of the product within assigned areas, and preparing design layouts of complex systems and major components.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Design Engineer:

Conceives Product Design concepts and prepares design layouts of complex systems and major components by manual means or by using a Computer Graphics system.
Makes design calculations and decisions, and does the necessary analysis and computer simulations.
Works closely with Test and Evaluation Engineers and Technicians, Plant personnel and suppliers regarding Product Design, test(s) and production schedule dates.
Provides technical leadership to Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, Service and other departments to solve the more difficult problems.
Refines and improves Product Designs by investigating and developing solutions to Product Design problems.
Works with customers, dealers and other departments throughout the resolution process.
Initiates and develops plans and controls the stages through production release.
Approves or rejects Engineering design deviations or change requests from other departments.
Provides leadership to Drafting personnel and Assembly Engineers.
Provides guidance to Assemblers and Test Engineers during product buildup and testing.
Ensures proper maintenance of production drawings.
Frequently travels to foreign and domestic production plants, dealerships and customer job sites to solve design problems and to field-test locations to assist with the development of Engineering projects.

The Design Engineer has the opportunity to develop unique design features the Company often patents to gain a competitive advantage.
This position requires some travel to the UK.

Required Skills for this Design Engineer position include the following:

2-4 years in the industry (i.e. Hydraulics, pumps and motors)

Engineering degree or equivalent experience, and 2-4 years in progressive Engineering assignments to gain a mastery of Engineering disciplines
