Aerotek CE is currently recruiting a Hardware Field Service Engineer to work in Fredericksburg, VA on 12 Months Contract.
Hardware Field Service Engineer Job Requirements:
Responsible for maintaining and sustaining the Transmitter and Receiver Sites for the Space Surveillance System. Responsible for the analysis, mobile depot maintenance, integration of components, equipment, and hardware for the unique transmitter and receiver radar systems. Accomplish complete range of engineering and data analysis activities by applying seasoned analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills. Understands or has the aptitude to understand the architectures, theories of operations and equipment comprising the VHF Fence system, specifically the Transmitter and Receiver Sites
-Trouble shoot problems/issues associated with the radar system and provide analytical basis for problem resolution or replacement.
-Provide engineering support to logistics department to anticipate and identify: (a) obsolete components; (b) maintenance drivers and deficiencies; (c) high-failure rate components; and (d) components experiencing adverse age or usage-induced failure trends.
-Conduct engineering analyses, perform trade studies, quantify implementation costs, and recommend preferred solutions to mitigate or eliminate sustainment risks and reduce AFSSS cost of ownership. Proposed solutions will depend on the nature of the problem and may involve: (a) software changes; (b) hardware modifications or equipment upgrades; (c) overhaul of subassemblies or subsystems; (d) vanishing vendor-related product modifications; (e) analysis, research and design of suitable substitutes for obsolete and vanishing vendor components; and (f) maintenance procedure or interval changes.
-Previous Field Service Engineering experience is desirable
-Frequent TDY to VHF Fence sites is required in performance of duties.
Requirements:
Minimum: BS & 6 yrs exp; MS & 4 yrs exp. Electrical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university
-Must have knowledge of real-time multi-facetted systems, and be adept at analyzing operational software functions and at developing software tools needed to analyze radar data.
-Desired experience in radar systems development. Desired experienced at deploying hardware and software modifications at radar sites. Frequent travel required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required; may be required to obtain an interim clearance within 6 months of document submittal.
