Our leading biotechnology client with world-class facilities in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Finance Manager.
Compensation: $100 - 120k base plus 20% bonus
MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
To ensure the integrity of financial information and to actively pursue the achievement of financial objectives focusing on business development activities. Provide high quality business and financial support to the VP Finance, CFO and VP Business Development US.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Develop solid Partnership with the Business Development function. The Finance Manager will be responsible for evaluating and quantifying the US market potential for pipeline products, in-licensing deals and new business opportunities. Provide meaningful financial analysis and strategic guidance on business development related matters, to allow informed business decisions, and to help drive the achievement of solid business development objectives. To promote effective communication between the following functions: Business Development, New Therapies, Commercial Operations, and the Finance Department. Also provide controllership guidance to ensure proper expenditure controls are in effect for the Business Development function.

DETAILED TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
BUSINESS SUPPORT:
-Provide financial and strategic support to the VP of Business Development and New Therapies.
-Work cross functionally with Business Development, New Therapies, Strategic Planning, Commercial Therapeutic areas, CPO Organization and Managed Markets, to gain a complete and thorough understanding of the market landscape and commercial potential for the target.
-Work closely with Corporate Finance to update the Corporate Finance Business Development tools.
-Work with Commercial Planning Organization to provide clear, thorough and consistent analysis regarding: Market potential and trends, Current & future competitors, Commercial opportunities and risks
-Work with existing Therapeutic Area and Managed Market Controllers to utilize consistent and optimized P&L forecasting methodologies: Revenue (Gross to Net assumptions), People and Program Investments (looking at optimized P&Ls when the target is within an existing therapeutic area), and related infrastructure support.
-Responsible for developing financial models including NPV and risk adjusted NPV for new business opportunities and in-line pipeline, in conjunction with the CPO group
-Work with Supply Chain Management to understand distribution techniques for target product
-Provide ad hoc analysis to VP of Business Development, as requested, in order to provide support for Senior Management decision making.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
-Provide financial support on all short and long term forecasting processes. Work with FP&A and Strategic Planning to formalize process on Long Range Financial and Strategic Plans, Operating Plans and Local Forecasts
-Coordinate month end closing activities for Business Development
-Develop internal models that will help measure return on investment(ROI) and prioritizations across all therapeutic areas
OTHER:
-Provide assistance to the VP of Finance, CFO and Controllers on a wide range of ad hoc requests.
-Respond to Corporate requests for information in a timely manner with regard to Business Development and New Therapies areas.
Education:
BS in Finance or Accounting
Qualifications:
MBA preferred
Professional Skills and Experience:
-5 years previous Financial analysis experience preferably in an international, multi-currency, biotechnology or pharmaceutical company
-Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral)
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Ability to influence others and work constructively within a team environment. Broad business understanding and ability to work cross functionally
-Ability to build complex financial models and translate local models to meet required Corporate system inputs.
-Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
-Excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance several on-going projects simultaneously
