Sr Business Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Program Manager for Research Publishing and Management Systems, you will be part of a team that develops and maintains a full-featured customized Management Systems platform used by Research Management to evaluate and compensate Research Analysts and manage the franchise as a whole. This includes a Management Reporting Database, user interface, reports, and associated governance / administrative systems for Debt and Equity Research.

As part of a larger team that supports Equity and Fixed Income Research and Client and Associate portals, you should have experience across a broad functional spectrum that includes electronic channels such as client portals, straight-through processing, web-based workflow, content management and front office systems. Candidates must have a proven track record of tangible accomplishment in a demanding environment.

KEY FUNCTIONS:

Business Analysis

· Develop and maintain strong working relationships with our business and technology partners as well as onshore and offshore development partners.

· Undertake detailed requirements and use case analysis and provide functional specifications for application enhancements requested by users. Provide business analysis and documentation for Management Reporting Database / Reporting project.

· Participate in application development lifecycle and provide secondary Quality Assurance support.

Application Functional Expertise

· Understand core business and technology strategies and short/long-term goals

· Maintain a strong working knowledge of the underlying core business processes and functionality of Research management systems and supported applications

· Analyze current business processes and suggest re-engineering opportunities



REQUIREMENTS:

· 7+ years experience as a business analyst. Project management experience is desired

· Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication, ability to work in a team, ability to earn trust and respect of peers and associates

· Ability to handle multiple and simultaneous activities and priorities, and to formulate creative solutions to problems

· Ability to work across organizational units and provide persuasive and influential leadership

· Ability to drive continuous process improvement.

· Must have extensive experience gathering and documenting business requirements and workflows

· Knowledge and/or experience in investment banking or brokerage is desired. BA or BS degree is required

· Must have strong working experience of MS Project, Excel, Word and Access. Broad based knowledge of current legacy and emerging technologies

· Experience in development methodologies, data modeling, and SQL is an advantage

· Strong command of the software development lifecycle process is required as you will be asked to participate in all phases of a project including prototyping, project management, requirements analysis and functional specification writing, testing, implementation and occasional technical support when necessary
