TEKsystems is looking for a Business Objects Developer for a large local client in the Eagan, MN area.


Business Driver:

Our client is building a new Data Warehouse from scratch. The current environment is running on SAS with a DB2 database. They use Business Objects for reporting. With their recent growth they realized that they needed to break the chain if information in different databases and build a new architecture from scratch. The new database is being built in DB2.


Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Delivery Developer to work in our Information Management organization. Working closely with the IM analysts, business subject matter experts, business sponsors and other IM-IT (Information Management Information Technology) teams, the Delivery Developer is responsible for the development, testing and implementation of BI solutions that meet all business requirements. This function also supports the IM Intake function in developing prototypes for the business team and customizing data sets to better support the delivery of business requirements.

Accountabilities

1. Codes all BI reports and processes
2. Designs, develops and tests system BI solution components
3. In support of the IM Intake Function,
- Develops functional and visual prototypes with the business to refine requirements
- Mentors business users in BI report navigation, interactions and usage
- Builds prototypes and coordinates prototype reviews
- Participate in estimating task effort and duration
- Customizes tools and data sets for use by different types of data consumers
4. Assisting with designing and coding the functions of the application under direction of the BI architect and project manager.
5. Produces efficient error-free programs.
6. Develops and conducts unit, integration, and system test plans.
7. Assists in implementation of software.
8. Monitors and improves performance of data warehouse analytical and operational reporting environments.
9. Prepare applicable system documentation
10. Works with architects and/or technical leads to translate requirements into technical specifications
11. Develops and implements tools or applications for accessing and analyzing data and metadata
12. Participates in the refinement of dimensional models required to support specific business user needs
13. Participates in the development, training and support for business users
14. Assists in handling help desk activity in support of current BI applications
15. Accountable to meet the estimated hour estimates based on assumptions and scope of the effort
16. Stays abreast of technology, tools and opportunities and identifies ways to incorporate new tools and ideas into Prime’s development process;
17. Creation, maintenance and review of Business Objects Universes.

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
2. 2+ years as a BI developer in the Information Management / Business Intelligence domain in the pharmaceutical industry;
3. 2+ years experience in working with data models
4. Ability to dialogue clearly and effectively with business, IT stakeholders, testers, and developers to gain understanding and resolution;
5. Ability to quickly work through opposing views and reach clarity of understanding;
6. Proven ability to document thoroughly;
7. Self-learner and ability to work independently.
