Job Listing: Security Systems Engineer

Position Purpose: Ensure technical infrastructure components are secure.

Knowledge/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or related experience. Hands-on experience with firewalls and a strong technical foundation of firewall configuration and change management. Experience securing Microsoft environments in production environments is required, including Active Directory and SQL Server. Understanding of patch management processes for Windows, UNIX and Linux environments. Vulnerability scanning experience; familiarity with multiple tools (Internet Security Scanner, Retina, nmap, Nessus, Snort). Knowledge of operating systems internals, communication (and networking) protocols (TCP/IP, AFP, NFS, HTTP, FTP) and system utilities. Systems security experience including scanning, hardening, data loss prevention, IT Infrastructure regulatory reporting tools, and configuring systems (Windows, UNIX, Linux). Cisco router experience to ensure security is maintained around routers and switches. Experience with Data Leakage Prevention and Regulatory (SOX/HIPAA) Reporting Compliance Tools strongly preferred. In addition, experience with Wireless Networks and DMZ security preferred.

Position Responsibilities: - Ensure security monitoring and auditing of hardware devices and software applications pertaining to LAN and WAN components are done properly. - Recommend and implement new security policies and initiatives. - Provide System Engineer security related support for LAN and WAN issues as well as support for user access application issues. - Monitor and audit firewall activity and identify any suspicious activity or risk to the network. - Analyze, recommend and implement network configuration and hardware changes for extremely complex network platforms.
