Our client in Rockville, MD is looking for a Scientist to help with Technical Services division and assist with formulation development of select drug products.
I.Specific Duties
-Participates in and oversees the manufacturing/process technology transfer/scale-up & commercialization of selected drug products (e.g., tablets, liquids & suspensions).
-Assists in formulation development of selected drug products (e.g., tablets, liquids & suspensions).
-Participates in the identification, selection and procurement of the equipment and/or materials needed to support the process and/or pharmaceutical development of respective projects.
-Works in cooperation with domestic and international departments (e.g., Pharmaceutical Development, Clinical Supplies & Sales/Marketing) in the development, identification, selection and procurement of packaging components for various drug products for investigational and/or commercial purposes.
-Develops and maintains good working/business relationships with internal & external customers.
-Responsible for the design, preparation and execution of experimental batch sampling & testing protocols, stability packaging protocols, process validation protocols and the manufacturing process documentation & reports associated with each of these product development phases.
-Monitors, instructs and supervises the various manufacturing and/or packaging sub-contractors during the processing of experimental, investigational or approved (marketable) drug products.
-Responsible for the design and development of departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
-Must travel approximately 25% of time.
II.Education, Special Skills and Experience
-Minimum B.S. Pharmacy, Chemistry or Engineering
-Minimum 3 years Pharmaceutical Industrial experience, preferably with a background in a Dosage Form Development and/or a Technical Services/Support setting.
-Experience in Sterile Dosage Form Design, Development and Processing.
-Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical dosage form design & processing (solid oral, liquid, and/or sterile dosage forms).
-Thorough knowledge of cGMP and GLP.
-Proficiency in the use of computers and computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-Ability to operate in a multi-cultural, multifaceted corporate environment.
-Task and detail-oriented.
-Willing to work with a dynamic group that takes a multi-disciplined team approach to executing and achieving departmental and corporate goals.
