Job Listing: Sr. Oracle Database Administrator

TEKsystems is seeking a Sr. Oracle Database Administrator to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production and test databases while ensuring high levels of data availability for our client in the Baltimore area.

This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. Some of these activities will have to be performed after hours on weekends to minimize downtime for users.

24/7 on-call duties for production support is required.

Responsibilities:
- Installing and configuring database systems, software patches and upgrades for Oracle 10g and 9i RAC and non-RAC on AIX UNIX systems
- Oracle 10g experience is required
- Must be able to perform routine database tasks without the need for GUI interface
- Creates and maintains Oracle userids and security roles
- Assists application developers with tuning SQL in applications and Stored Procedures
- Controls and monitors disk space allocation for multiple databases
- Provides Oracle DBA support and problem resolution support for developers
- Creates and loads new databases for testing
- Position requires strong oral and written communication skills
- Position requires strong AIX skill set
- Candidates must be willing to work weekends and other non-standard shifts
- Experience supporting Oracle on Windows is a plus
