Industrial Engineering Specialist (Material Handling)
Job Summary

General Summary:

Support the development and implementation of returnable packing and racking while working closely with Material Control and Logistics Departments. Provide floor layout, square footage optimization/utilization, and determine material flow for assembly areas and support third party logistics partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop internal dunnage within common tote and rack sizes unique to commodity type and packing quantity, while working closely with Material Control, Logistics Department, and domestic and international supplier base.
- Determine and document man hours and roles/responsibilities necessary to support conveyance design through standardized work processes.
- Ensure that suppliers’ bar code labeling on each returnable tote or rack is compliant and consistent to Production Control standards.
- Provide all necessary data and corresponding premise for calculation of additional required powered equipment, tools, racking, and related material to Assistant Manager/Manager for strategic planning/budgeting purpose.
- Report Root cause/countermeasure on out-of-standard conditions within Material Handling core responsibilities to Assistant Manager/Manager and work directly with other affected Department towards resolution.


QUALIFICATIONS and JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field along with two (2) to five (5) years of progressive experience in the Material Handling field in a manufacturing environment preferably within the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in working with a third party automotive logistics supplier.
- International travel is required.
